Air and cabin filters replaced this afternoon....air was certainly due...had had a few 'tap outs', 'blow offs' but cycle was up.
Cabin filter had been replaced 'at some stage' as it was a RYCO Filter and not the original MOPAR brand.....sorry Grippy cant satisfy your curiosity with the grotesque...was dirty, but thats all.
Obviously the previous, and original, owner had done his own servicing but not recorded it in the Manual....unless it was done at the service prior my purchase...unknown...workshop would not release details...offered to service it for me, THEN, tell me what had been done at its previous service....service was done 1500klm prior my purchase by a 'notable' workshop in Adelaide CBD....probably when they told the previois owner that not having serviced the auto for 130k(bought the car with just shy of 130k on clock) the box was due for failure ????....workshop is an auto trans shop basically, with a specialist field in 'foriegn'....read not holden, ford, toyota, nissan, mitsubishu types....anywayz...guts of it is they wouldnt release any info on the service they had performed unless I booked in, had the service done and paid for the service....something I wasnt, and still am not, comfortable with....pretty sure they quoted me around $1100 for air, fuel n oil filters and oil change...just cost me a frack over $310 at very rural prices for the filters n oil this week...sooooo..... $800ish workshop charge....or....4 hours workshop hire/labour (as it appears on the invoice).
Overall:
The Oil Filter looked in the worse condition of all filters replaced at this service....Drover mentions that in my Oil Capacity thread....luckily the filters on these are on top...so a filter change can be done without dropping the oil....no plan to run that far overdue again....but....the best laid plans of mice n men.....
Bring on the 'adventure' !!!!!

It happened again....full ignition cycle but no starter solenoid engaging.
Swapped starter solenoid and transmission selector fuses, pulled centre consol to pieces and soaked everything with contact cleaner, unplugged what I could get at and sprayed the connections with contact cleaner, did a battery disconnect to reset the 'brains'....nada.
RAA 2moz to hook up a scanner and see if there are any codes...evic says vehicle in Park so that sensor is working.....buggers me....spent 2.5hrs buggering around....same outcome...full ignition cycle occuring but starter solenoid not engaging....no symptoms other than doing the same thing the other day....hmmmmm......adventure planned to start Monday.....ffs

Got me stuffed, could be so many things on these from simple to black magic .............. Check the actual wires on starter big and small, the low voltage could be the culprit no power to solenoid, might be as simple as a bad connector, at least thats the next place I would look after the selector and fuses ...............

Is the starter spinning & just not engaging with the flywheel? If so, you probably have a problem with the one-way clutch drive in the starter. The little cog that drives the flywheel. If it is not spinning you could try a wire from the battery +ve to the solinoid on the starter motor.

Battery is gawwwwn.....11.8V standing....drops tp 10.3v without engaging the starter...thats why the starter solenoid wasnt engaging....brilliance of electronics stopped the circuit.
Jumper leads after the volt meter test and bingo.....
Off to the Auto store after some pygmy contortionist moves to remove the old battery....
Anybody want to ring the bride and pass on the bank account hit message ???....thinking of going fishing to a location with no phone signal until its time to load the bags for the adventure...jus sayin

Now go and buy that multi meter like someone said a few days ago to check things................ I bought an EXIDE EVOLUTION SSAGM-88EU START STOP 850CCA BATTERY for mine last year and it was about $400 instead of $650 that some other batteries priced at..........

Glad you found the cause at least...and the excursion can go ahead as planned...just a bugger that it is a tad costly.
