Just a small job today. Replaced the gas struts for the tail gate. Almost have to swing my whole weight off the tailgate to get the thing down now! Cheap two around $40 from The gas strut guys on ebay!.

Busted the transfercase It has been popping out of all 4WD modes and I was hoping it was due to a dodgy engine mount, well after replacing the mounts turns out it wasn't and a quick test really stuffed it. Now it pops out really easy and makes a nice thumping noise as I drive along. Soooo, the XJ is retired to the garage while I wait for a replacement tcase.

Be a nice idea but money is tight (Just bought a HD 50" Plasma and PS3 ) so It'll be another NP242, although I did briefly entertain the idea of an Atlas but then I'd feel like I'd have to do diffs etc. I will be keeping the busted case and pulling it apart for a look though, maybe see what is available for them and rebuild it but I don't think ratios or anything special are around for the NP242.

Marks Adapters my be worth a try.....they seam to do everything. I thought that guy on the latest 4wd Action DVD had lower reduction gears in his Transfer case???
