Default 03 Hardtop Wiring

Hey All,

After 7 long years I found a hard top at a great price and in decent nick! Just need to replace a few bits and it’ll be sorted!

Only issue is I REALLY need help wiring it up. From what I can see the factory wires are on the right side though! Hardtop connection is on the left! Can anyone point me in the correct direction? I think what I’m looking at are the connections but I’m not sure. Haynes is no help.

Forgot to add - TJ is 03 so is the top! How cool is that

Need a link or something - can’t find anything

Can anyone assist? Cheers. Paras

I am pretty sure they run down the LHS under the lip of the body in a black conduit and plug in at the LH rear lower corner of the hard top. If the jeep did not originally have the option of both hard and soft top this loom may not be fitted. The conduit also has the hose for the rear window washer. Does your jeep have the rear wiper washer switch and rear demist switch fitted? this could give it any.

I bought my TJ about 5 years ago, it had a soft top so no hard top wiring was installed. I bought a hard top not long after I bought the jeep, then I bought a complete hard top wiring loom from the states, that was about 4 years ago. I am only just now getting around to installing it. The wiring loom goes down the left side to the left corner of the hard top. I have no wiring that goes down the right side of the jeep.

The attached pic is from the 03 FSM. As with all TJ model years body wiring runs down the left side of the Jeep. Nothing down the right hand side.

Thanks for the rereplies guys. I had another look last night. I have (what I think) are extra - Hardtop connections running from the back left rear to the right. The extra bits are coming from S310.

Obviously some are for the rear taillights. But there are extra connections that are just sitting there and a strange bit with a thin black pipe on it.

Also when I wired up some spotlights a while ago I found (what I think) are connections for are Hardtop. There is a loom connections going into the blanks where the switches go for the Hardtop. Does this make sense.
I’m going to have another try on the weekend.

Thanks again.

The black pipe I think might be to the EVAP canister/leak detection pump which is in the right rear quarter panel, and will have wiring going to it as well.

Although there are loom connections behind the blanks, it doesn't necessarily mean you will have the rest of the wiring from the dash back. My 97 TJ is soft top only but still has the connectors for demist and rear wiper behind the blanks on my switch panel.

If the rear hard top wiring is present, the connector is 6 way with five wires going to it. See the diagram for connector shape and wire colours.

Nope! Does not look like that plug Jonny. I’ve had another look, I don’t think I have the actual hard top wiring loom. Part is discontinued also. Off to investigate where I can find one.

Thanks for all the help guys
