Default xj 96 keeps turning off/stalling

hey all just brought my first jeep. a xj 96 model. the only problem i found is that it keeps turning off/stalling after about 15mins of driving, then will just crank its heart out but wont fire up again. if i leave it 10 mins it will fire up first turn. any help would be great as im at a loss

Never had that happen to me b4,but someone on here will no what your problem is.Welcome to the forum anyway.

Sounds just like the CPS dude! They get faulty as time goes on, especially when they heat up, mine was doing the same thing. You can check the error codes that the engine is throwing by following a few steps on Go-Jeeps site.

have u check on the rotor?...mine having the same problem when that needed replaced. It's the cheapest way to start after all, aus$11 - $13. It's located in the distributor.
cps will be the next to look at...I guess.

Do a search of "error codes" and see if any are coming up. From what people have told me, it may be your CPS, so I'll back mitch up

also check the fuel filter, it can block up and stall the engine, as can the fuel pickup in the tank. check for pressure in the fuel rail next time it cuts out, if there is then check the cas/cps

we replaced the cam shaft sensor thing. seems to have worked great guns. thanks guys
