Default XJ plus 1uz lexus

I have this plan to put the 1uz V8 out of a celsior into my XJ. I have talked to the engineer and all is ok legally 4 liter to 4 liter just 2 extra cyls. I have also talked to a shop that speciallizes in 1uz conversions. It has to stay auto ( is the wifes major driving car) I can use the 4sp auto from the celsior and adapt a surf transfer case to it or there is a jeep gearbox that will fit to the back of the 1UZ but im not sure which one it is.

Having never done one into a Jeep before hes unsure but thinks it wont be a problem. Hes done other 4X4s with the conversion hiluxes and stuff. He's currently about to start my mates hilux.

I have some photos i have found from the net of a bloke in thailand who has done one into a XJ jeep and it looks neat.

The radiator out of the donor car looks the same size as the jeep one and has a hydrolic fan on it controller by the computer.

Has any one else thought of this or have any ideas on the conversion?

Cheers
Matt

I love that idea, did he give you a ball park figure as to what that could cost?

He said around $250 for the mods to the gearbox. 1UZ auto is pretty strong i am told. We didnt discuss any more costs as yet.

Just not sure on which side the transfer will sit. I will have to ask him.

Heres a pic of the motor in the celsior.

Heres a pic of the XJ jeep i found on the net.

i have thought about this conversion before and figured using the toyo box with a lux transfer case keeping it rh drop and fitting nissan patrol diffs to suit the rh drop transfer would be a good way to do it that way you end up with a beefy driveline on the cheap and good parts availabilty .
