Default Got the green light

Well the wife has given the ok to trade the cars in on a JK so I'm looking at getting a 4DR CRD auto either 09 or 2010.

I know all about the issue's some jk's have, probably more than most of you realise.

What I am wanting to ask is, what mods have you done and what would you not do if you got another one?

I am thinking of the simple things like 2" lift and snorkle. But what else. Has anyone done an exhaust on a 2.8 yet and how did it go?

Check youtube for exhaust clips. As for the mods take a look in the 'what have you done to your JK this week?' thread. There are a lot of posts and plenty of good ideas.

Think about what mods you'd like, then prioritise them.

I went for a snorkel and air compressor first because as stock the car 4wd's just fine, but once in the wet stuff you wont want to drown your engine. And the air compressor because when you're on the sand you always have to let down your tires.

Depends how hard you'll go and what you'll be in the most really.

Thanks Da Sherps,

I know what I want to do to the jeep and I know how exactly I'll be driving it.

This is more to ask people what they have found works and what didn't and why.

But thanks for the reply.

Hi NCW,

I have an '07 Unlimited CRD. I got the renegade pack with the hard top for starters. After I purchased it I added :

Slightly larger LT tyres
ARB/OME "2 inch" (more like 80-90mm) lift kit (definitely needed!!!)
ARB Steel Bull Bar (probably not really needed, but where would I mount the spotties?!)
AEV Snorkel (Needed a couple of times for water crossings and also the general fuel efficiency improvement)
Lightforce 170 Spotlights (gold - though I wish i could justify the extra $$$'s for HIDs)

I now have the perfect rig! I have owned a number of 4x4s over the years and been to a lot of different places (Cape York, Simpson, Fraser etc) and the JK is by far the most unstoppable.

Definately a lift on the 4 door as ramp over is poor. i think you need more than 2 inchs on a 4 door if you like doing tough stuff as you will still belly out a lot. I got the 4 inch skyjacker kit from the U.S, its cheap reasonably comprehensive and flexes very well. The draw backs are the shocks dont like corrugations at all and the bushes you get in the lower control arms flog out real quick.
Definately a front bar to get rid of that nose. I would look elsewhere for front bar other than ARB or TJM. I have TJM and its good and strong but there are better import ones for sure
