That kind of stuff sounds perfect. Don't have any names of tracks by any chance?

Buy the proper Grampians 4WD tracks map at the info center in Halls Gap. We just used the crap map the bloke at the desk gave us. It's not that good as it didn't have all the names on it and the intersections aren't drawn correctly, hense we missed a few turns and didn't see a few things we wanted to.

Does anyone have any good sneaky car camping spots in the area?

Looking like a night or two @ mt cole on the way home is the go.

On the western side of the Grampians there is a great camping spot in Rocklands Reservoir park. Free camping, pit toilets and fires permitted. Better than the Grampians National Park sites which charge a nightly fee and can be overcrowded. There is also some good tracks in the Rocklands park.

Near Ouyen, the Casuarina campsite in Wyperfeld is also free and has similar facilities. I was there two weeks ago and had the whole place to myself.

The Meridian Victoria's Deserts map is highly recommended for this part of your trip.

Thanks for the heads up - gets me closer to arapiles too

Staying at a mates 'shack' on the murray, kind of a yearly pilgramage as we catch up with a few friends we rarely see. Has power, gotta light the fire if you want a warm shower however.
