Hey guys, I just found a local supplier of the best high flow balanced thermostats you can buy. They now sell the Mr Gasket Thermostats at Rocket Industries.
I was looking for a local source just now for Lawnman.

did they have them on the shelf or order it in? Rocket Industries wants $20 plus a freight charge from the states and will deliver direct to your door

Well Lube Mobile fixed the thermostat, albeit some what reluctantly. The mechanic still maintains that a cooler thermostat is the way to go. Anyway he fitted a 91 degree thermo after allegedly calling Jeep and they confirmed it was ok.

Didn't know they did it that way. Check out my high flow water pump write up as I have a link there to Summit Racing where it is only $11 USD plus freight.

That is complete crap! Fitting a lower thermostat will not stop over heating at all. If you are generating more heat than the radiator can control, the thermostat fully opens. Once fully open, the temperature will rise to the same point regardless of what temperature you started at. You may save a minute by having it fully open earlier, but that is all.
The stock themostat is 95* and not 91*. You are causing more wear and maybe more fuel depending of what exact temperature the ECU leans out and starts using the O2 sensor to regulate the temperature once at the 'correct' operating temperature. Did you know that you increase the wear rate 4 times by running at 160*F instead of 180*F for instance!
