Ceramic Coating
Hi Gang
I've always been skeptical of paint protection when buying a car because I religiously wash and wax my cars regularly. I have however heard that the new ceramic coating, particularly the Opti-Coat Pro+ might be worth looking at.
Anyone had it done?
Got a quote for $1145 to have it done - is it worth it?
Cheers

I have had the Opticoat done on 3 of my cars.
The big thing to remember with this product and like most things.......its all about preparation and application.
The guy that did our has been detailing cars for 25 years and spends a whole day on the car. He even gets colour matched paint to fill in any imperfections.
As he states......the coating protects the car from you and me.
I would never get it done through a dealer as I don't believe that they would follow the process 100%.
Cheers, Craig

Agree with Cherokee30D. The preparation is the most important part so make sure you get someone reputable.
I spent 5 days in prep and then applied the coating myself.

No way will I get it don via a dealer, I'm a big believer in getting specialists for special jobs.
Opti Coat pointed me to Steve Vozzo at Adelaide Automotive Detailing, any Adelaide folks had work done there?

Not for me. IMHO you can buy a lot of DIY wax for $1145. I wax twice a year and clay bar once every 3-4 years and my paint looks like new.

What's the obligation as far as maintaining the coating?

None that I'm aware of .... yet. Would assume the usual good practices when washing any car would apply though.
