Thanks tomxj, looks like a beast but not what I was after anyway.

Think the decision is made indeed, had a fuel tank skid pop up which I didn't think I'd be able to find, that plus the bull bar, lift, snorkel, tyres will mean I'm good to go for a while.

I did also find the cost of mods for the xj wasn't going to be as cheap as initially thought. For example a RE 3.5 lift which is US$700 worked out to be around AU$2.5k fitted with all the extras (SYE, shocks). Throw in a 8.8 rear conversion, wheels, tyres, rear tyre carrier bar, recovery points, skids, snorkel plus whatever needed to be fixed on the vehicle itself and it was clear my mod budget was going to be blown pretty quick.

Besides, hardly ever see KJ's out on the trails and there is a degree of underdog/ugly duckling appeal amongst a (mostly) JK crowd!

Surely you have had a good look at the KJ forum on here & seen what they get up to with theirs. KJ's are no slouch offroad

It's pretty quiet over there these days but yes, no doubt in skilled hands they are very capable
