I thought it was a sport at first for the same reason, but checked carsales and saw other 98 limiteds with the same grey flares and sides. It has the limited side badging, EVIC/overhead console, stereo, seats trim etc etc, so I'm sure it is a limited...

You can tell by the VIN if you email it to Chrysler in the US they'll send you a build sheet with all the options fitted at time of build.
As for cruise control, I know it was standard on pre-update limiteds but I have no idea on the updates, same applies to ABS as I have heard of update sports being fitted with ABS where as on pre-updates it was only the Limiteds that had ABS....

Good idea, I think Daz will also get that info when he puts the vin into the Chrysler service portal, so I'll be able to double check.

Sorry still think it's a sport with maybe dealer fitted leather & interior bling bits. 98+ Limiteds in aus all had colour coded body mouldings, bumbers & grilles, Criuse and ABS and the 15" crossed spoke style alloys that JJ has a set of. I know this as I was shopping for one new back in 2000 when I ended up buying my 96 Limited. I was also looking at the Classic brand new in 2000 which had the overhead console, body colour exterior mouldings & bumpers plus 16" 5 spoke wheels.

This is what a Aus delivered 99 Limited should look like in white

I have both of these types of wheels with the classic 16's currently fitted, I must admit all the update classics and limiteds I have seen have had the body coloured trims but I am far from an expert on update Xj's...

Here's another one I found with the same grey flares, agree they look the same as the sport. Don't forget the 97/98/99's are different to the 00/01's and even have difference between the individual years.

If it was originally a sport, the vin check will identify it. I'd also say whoever did it has done a pretty damn good job of all the important bits, wood grain, leather seats EVIC console, stereo and side badging - to overlook the flares and side plastic seems odd...
