Thumbs up VNT Turbo actuator

A bit of info I found today about Garrett (Hella) Turbo Actuators

Sprinter and late model OM642 engines had different turbo actuators and fitting the wrong one will result in the throttle body lightning bolt symbol coming on and limp mode (commonly associated with a swirl motor failure)

Our Grands and Commanders use the G88 version.

This can be found on the alloy body of the actuator like this (example only, could be anywhere on the actuator)

A link to a US supplier https://blaast-turbo-factory.myshopi...nt=33296760783

NOTE!
Now Garrett Don't recommend you replace just the actuator (see below) But many have without a problem.

During my last service i noticed that the rubber seal in the oil cap was worn where it seals, so i pulled it out and the other side was softer.
I simply reinstalled it the other way and i have now done 5,000 k's and it has stoped leaking.

There is a little bit of oil to be seen not 100% if it was there but if that has leaked it's still a hell of a lot better.

2007 WH CRD - no DPF, Swirlpot mod and egr mod done.

Engine will crank, fire then shut off in 2 seconds, and the oil lamp comes on.

This happened after the engine went into limp mode driving home today. The engine had no power, could hardly move, max speed of 30kph and was surging.

Scan showed P0471 - exhaust pressure sensor, however this should put it into limp mode, not present the above symptoms as far as I am aware. I have removed the sensor, inspected it and replaced it.

Any advice re the nil start issue would be great. At this point, even if I install a new sensor, I can't run the engine to test if that is fixed.

There is plenty of oil in the engine.
