So I was able to get out on Sunday to give them a good test.
To start with the on road handling characteristics are unlike any shock I have ever used. They give an extremely comfortable and smooth ride with a massive improvement on body roll. I have played around with the settings a little and believe I have found a happy medium. I honestly couldn't fault them for on road use.
Now for the off road use, this is where they really shine! I threw everything at them that the sleeved and gusseted D30 could take. Jumps, corrugations, washouts, hill climbs and creek beds, no matter what it was they loved it. What before felt like the car was being shaken to pieces I could now comfortably cruise along like it wasn't even there. Obviously jumping the JK's is something that we probably shouldn't do to often or ever, I had to give it a go. I hadn't changed the settings on the shocks at all from what I had them set on for the road, and to be honest I probably didn't need to as it soaked up the landing like it hadn't left the ground. The slow rebound setting on the shock kept it from leaping back off its bump stops and kept the vehicle in a very easily controlled state the whole time with no after bounce. (please note I do also have front speed bumps).
As they are designed for the 4'' kit they still give a huge amount of suspension travel. For the front there are 2 different lengths, a standard 4'' and a long travel. I am just running the standard length as they are more than long enough to suite my needs without having to change drive shafts and the rest.
I will try and get some pics from the day for you all.
Cheers,
Michael
