Just picked up jambo pack and read that at minimum you should have recovery points and a snatch strap for c grade and above tracks, so any ideas for recovery points on the XJ ? Any one know a good web site with tech tips to steer me in the right direction?

no wolfe, what wooders meant with the towbar is that you have one recovery point, ie someone can pull you out backwards, so you can only drive the track in one direction hehe.... oppps, not very funny jimmyb.............

Wolfe,
You've got a rear towbar - so that direction is OK...
What's your bumper (ARB or TJM or ??)Should be able to get somthing to quickly and easily attach as a solid rec point.

Wolfe,

Jimmy's right. You NEED to hooks in both directions....Not just for Jambo, but even for trips like menai - it's much easier and safer when you know that the recovery points will accept the recovery gear and won't break.

When accidents happen in recovies they tend to happen very fast and be lethal. I recall at the Easter 4wd clubs jamboree a recovery went wrong and a peice of metal was projected some 50-100 meters into an innocent bystander taking out his ankle (& I mean shattered and helicopter removeal from the jambo site). This was NOT a difficult recovery nor done recklessly - the recovery point simply failed.

Seriously mate, spend a few bucks and get some solid recovery points front & rear.
