Default 99Mod XJ Fuel problems?

Ok have a question!
Has any one had problems with there XJ's fuel pick up?
When my fuel gets to 3quarts empty and i go around a corner its like i get fuel surge?
I will get air in the line and it will start coughing and splatting!
Any ideas on how to fix this as it is driving me up the wall.
Any help will be much sought!!

No probls with mine. Have you check all the connection in the fuel supply line from the tank to the injection rail?

Hi Jeepman, make sure you don't have fuel contamination ie. water moving when cornering as i have seen this & had a one off with a faulty fuel pump (believe it or not faulted only when cornering), which took ages to find.

Default Fuel Surge

Jeepman

I get a similar thing with my 99XJ when the tank is about 1/5 full and I give it a boot. Complete power drop off then pick up (almost like its empty). I try to make sure that it never drops below that level or if it does I dont give it too much stick. I'm living with it but if theres a solution out there I'm all ears.

Bloody annoying isn't it. I had it on my XJ, but then all of a sudden it stopped doing it (I think it was after I gave it a thrashing while 4WDing) .
Now my fuel guage doesn't work when there is more than half a tank. I don't know if they are related.

Fuel surge pump pickup is at the front of the tank in the centre mine did it and still does when low fuel light comes on (it is just the pump cavitating)
