Lift went in today..all went went as exported except for one issue. Still waiting on shocks, arms and swaybar disconnects..but so far so good and happy with the result.b A good mate Joe helped me out (read as did most of it) so big thanks to him!

Ok so rant starts.

The issue we had was with the sway bar..I bought a superior engineering HD Adjustable sway bar .,. and well its got me. It seems, well is, way to short.

In my opinion by the time you threaded the rod in to a safe margin, it would be shorter than stock.

Called Superior, there response (after sending them pictures and measurements), yeah we can see it is far to short and would be dangerous to fit, but they are all that length, that's just how we make them and we have sold them to people who have fitted them to XJ Cherokees with 4"+ lifts and no problems.

So I asked them :

- how they managed to make it work with a 4"+ lift - answer we don't know but it must work
- Can you tell me what the minimum safe thread engagement is that you recommend and can you email that to me in writing - answer its 2/3's the diameter of the threaded rod and I don't have to email you anything as its to short for your application
- Asked how this issue can be fixed, answer you ship it back to us at your cost and when we receive it we will issue a refund minus the initial shipping cost.

looking at it the only way I can see it would work is if you use a panhard relocation bracket, which they never mentioned even though they new the car, year, model and height of lift before ordering it.

So, tomorrow I will send it back and try and chase a panhard from somewhere else..no other option as superior have basically said its not their problem.

Here is the superior panhard (with the rod end would completely out next to the stock panhard

Stock Panhard versus Superior Engineering Panhard

Man that's not the best customer service! I've used a road safe branded panhard (same as double black offroad and various others) and worked fine on mine at around 4/4.5" of lift so I don't know why theirs would be any different? Out of interest can you tell me what thread size the tie rod is that came with it please? I'm assuming it's 20x1.5 mm like most others.

Yup its 20x1.5.

I remembered last night that I had spoken to Cal Offroad a few months ago about long arm kits, and we were talking about them being RHD and would need a panhard..I mentioned I would just get a superior one..his comment ...

"Don't, it wont fit"

So once he gets back from holidays I will get one off him

I wish I had remembered that before i ordered

Obviously there is an issue somewhere (they even admitted it would not be safe), but all the ones they had in stock were the same length and I just cant work out how they supposedly make them work.

I should have also remembered (from my Patrol days) that Superior are well 'renowned' (amongst Patrol owners) for this type of customer service.

So today, I was planning on making the number plate bracket for the wheel carrier when I discovered that the studs on the wheel carrier are not the right pattern for the XJ Rims.

So the day got lost with cutting studs out, re drilling and fixing that little issue, with only a little bit of work done making the number plate bracket

Tomorrow..I hope will be a better day and I can get a few things finished up.

Thanks for that mate, there's no excuse for poor customer service IMO. I'm currently working on some products that will hopefully eliminate this issue in the future. I've tried contacting wooders about the chassis stiffeners but doesn't seem to want to respond, do you mind me asking how much your cost? Pm me if you don't want to post it. Cheers.

It was too hot the last couple of days to do much work but managed to get the lights on the rear bar to keep it legal.

I will probably recess them in sometime in the future, but for now they are on to keep everyone happy. I just wired them up to a Trailer plug and used the existing Trailer Harness/plug (seeing as I don't have a hitch) to connect them. Makes it easy to remove the bar as well.

Also made up brackets and fitted the mudflaps so its not so conspicuous driving it around. Very basic brackets and very quick to take on and off.

They tie into the lower sill seam and also back up into the wheel well. Used Rivnuts on the car so its easy to zip them off and back on with the little cordless driver I have in the back

Ignore the mismatched bolts, this was all we could find in the scrounge bin to quickly mount them up, but have bought new ones from the shop round the corner to made it all pretty.
