On another note, what procedure did you use when you did the test? Throttle full, crank until maximum pressure on gauge was showed?
Amen........I'm surprised it isn't driving like a wet T-shirt & missing/ back firing or igniting the fuel vapor in the exhaust if valves leaking.

I'm looking forward to hear what the final diagnoses is..... Good luck

Correct Rastus. If you have a ring problem you will get an oily plug. Either all plugs will be oily from blowby or #1 will be oily from oil coming up past the rings. Burned exhaust valve has biggest effect at idle. At normal engine speed you dont notice it.

Some good info here gents, thanks!

Being a 'toy' I'm not rushing with anything as I gave a few other modes of transport.

Spew about the motor / year changes. More then I expected.

Re comp test. All plugs out, ignition and fuel relay out, screwed in comp gauge and cranked about 6 times. Did all pots and even did number 1 twice to confirm.

It idles ok, but you can feel a minor shake and the exhaust note is lumpy at idle (like big cam) - driving at any rpm off idle it's fine.

Sounds like it's time then to do a cylinder leakage test before you start tearing it apart. It's going to have to come apart anyway but the test will show a more definitive result. I'm hedging on an exhaust valve being damaged or the valve seat itself. If it is an exhaust valve you will hear air coming out of the exhaust pipe.

4 - 160
5 - 165
6 - 175

wierd how they scale up like that...
