Yes, I did have Commander wheels, and yes, the Rubicon wheels did require a 6mm spacer....and clear the bolt.
I already had the spacers as I have JK wheels / tyres for off road.

Cheers, Craig
Yeah I thought that the JK wheels had a different offset and backspacing than the Commander wheels. Standard JK wheel have a 6.25" BS and 50.8mm offset (the same as a standard WH) according to my friend Google.

Clarky - I think you might be mixing up your offsets with your backspacing. 44mm is the offset of the wheel, which is what Commander rims are. The backspacing of Commander rims is 6". To go to JK wheels, the additonal backspacing pushes the wheels back inwards to where the original WH ones sit. (i.e. 6.25" BS).

Yeh wording miss match
WH 7.5inch 50.8mm b/s as you said
JK & Commander both are 7.5inch 44.something mm b/s
Its the shape of the inside of the rim that fowls on the front brake caliper when trying to fit a JK rim to a WH, early USA 2005 WK's grands had different brakes so JK rims fitted with no spacer but not here in Oz.

Sorry Clarky, you still have the wording wrong!

The measurements in mm that you are quoting are offsets not backspacing.

JK rims are definitely not the same offset and backspacing as Commander rims or otherwise I would have bought a set of JK rims for my WJ by now to help widen the track without rubbing. (Commander rims have the same 6" B/S as my WJ 16x7's). Because the JK rims have 0.25" more B/S than my standard wheels(6.25" vs 6"), they would actually cause more rubbing issues as the wheel is ~6mm closer to the body.http://www.wranglerforum.com/f27/lar...er-142837.html

WJ and WH GC's have the same specs for the standard 17" wheels (17x7.5", 6.25" B/S, 50.8m O/S), as you mention, it is just the brake caliper clearance that is the issue. Hence why many WJ's run JK wheels without problem.

Hope this clears things up rather than confuses it more!

I’m having a rough day aren’t I.

I have owned both wheels, JK & Commander, both are defiantly +44 off set() moving the rims approx 6mm away from the suspension.

I was under the impression that JK would bolt straight up to a WJ/G (smaller brakes)?

Any way wrong thread for this discussion, should start a Grand Cherokee show us your rims tread

So sorry to repeat but I've been reading up on wheels etc (this thread included) and I've yet to find a simple answer to my question.

Do JK wheels and tyres fit on a 2005 WH Grand?

I need tyres for my WH and there's loads of wheelsets on eBay/Gumtree with 245/75's Goodyear Wranglers on them. Not the best but would suit me well and cheaper than buying 5 new tyres retail.

I thought JK wheels are the same offset as the stock wheels so with these tyres they should clear the bolt. Now I'm not so sure. I thought wheels spacers were illegal in Oz and Commander wheels are too rare to be an option. Maybe I do have to buy new and just pay the price.

Jk wheels won't clear the front brake calipers, you need a 6mm spacer. The 245 75 17 silent armours will fit your stanndard rims and clear the bolt, the spae will fit too. I have these and fit good.
