December 2010 Editorial
In the August issue I suggested joining a Jeep convoy if you were travelling to the Jamboree. I indeed did this and travelled the 1,500km one way to the Jamboree with three other Jeeps. I drove my 1981 Cherokee Chief ute and joined another Chief ute, a ZJ Grand Cherokee running on petrol and LPG and a diesel powered JK Wrangler, a pretty wide range of Jeeps. After a lot of heckling from families and local Jeepers the two old school, chopped Chiefs made the trip there and back unaided.
Travelling with the Jeep group turned the four day Jamboree into a ten day Jeep trip..
On Friday at the Jamboree I joined the media group with journalists from other magazines and media outlets. We were guided along tracks by Jamboree organizers and were able to drive and observe the current Jeep models offroad. We were then shown the latest Grand Cherokee in a nice bush setting. At camp on Friday night and then at the Saturday show and shine many journalists were amazed at the Jeep passion and camaraderie on display.
Talking with Jeepers who had also attended the 1990 Jeep Jamboree I realized we have been attending Jamborees for 20 years. We have a great coverage of the Jamboree this issue and more in the next issue.
It seems too early to once again wish everyone a safe and happy Christmas break, but it is early December and my last opportunity to do so. Our January/February combined issue goes on sale early January. Enjoy this issue and have fun in your Jeep over the Christmas period.
Enjoy this month’s issue.
