Default Hard top owners - rear window rattle

Hard top owners.

Can you tell me if your rear window gas strut lifters rattle/are loose at the ends where they mount? I have a horrible rattle from the rear window, everything is tight, weather strip is solid and the only thing I can see that is moving is the gas strut lifter ball joint ends.

Mine have a heap of play in them..

are you sure the bolts that secure the glass to the hinges are tight? found mine loose the other day after driving along a lot of rough roads in the bush

with the gas struts, mine must have lost some charge as they now barely hold the window up. would imagine that with less gas charge and pressure there would be less pre-load on the strut ball joint mounts allowing some rattle

I have WH Grand and had the same problem. It happened 12 months after I had the flip glass replaced. The hinge bolts where it bolts onto the tailgate where not tight. The window had slipped down a mm or two so the bottom edge of the glass was rattling against the tailgate metalwork.

I found it by tapping the glass at various points with my hand till I found it.

That was exactly it. Amazed how much stronger the new gas struts are compared to mine (10 years old, and factory originals), which I thought were only a 'little' gone...
