In all honesty, I also dont believe the OEM fix is any better than after market. The cost an alternator is about $650 locally, even more when there is a shortage.

Did you buy the car used? if so when?

what is the part number of your alternator? you can find out from the part number if you have the so called fixed.

Had the car since new, not sure on the part number - I assume i'd have to get under the car to find that one?

Had the alternator replaced during service this week with the genuine part, after using the temporary alternator for a good 11months.

Adding notes here for knowledge.

Just out of interest, did you get to keep the aftermarket one? Would definitely be worthwhile keeping it. Not sure when my genuine one will come up, I’ve had the aftermarket one in for about 8 months
