Default Urgernt. Please help

Hi all, This am in a pickle, any info can help.

I bought a 97 TJ Wrangler a few days ago, originally a auto but now a 6 speed manual with a turbo fitted.

I live 1100kms away. When on highway it gets about 20 mins and starts to die. Splatters and stops. I’ve spent almost $1000 to have it towed and had a new distributor ( eninge module) fitted and it’s done the same thing again as I’m all the way up highway once again.

Anything that could be thought of would be help. Only have phone so limited to what I can search. I’ve pulled and checked fuse 11 and all ok.

I can’t spend another night on side of highway

Thank you

CPS (Crankshaft Position Sensor) might be a good starting point.

Where are you now?

Good luck.

Thanks. Am trying everything from cooling ECU. The sock on turbo starts smoking and it dies. After a hour and half wait I managed to get 20 more kms only

Almost sound like it's overheating
Could be an air pocket trapped in the cooling system?
Is there a way to bleed these cooling system?
Another cause might be Blocked Exhaust ?
Modified cars are never fun when this happens

Basically it has myself and 2 mechanics stumped. Took another hour to get last 10 kms. Then another half to go 5. Breather hose has a small hole, crank sensor can’t make up its mind... sat running stationary for 50 mins and nothing......

I really appreciate every bit you guys have mentioned.

Fuel rail boiling hot and vapor so possibly that also.

you say you have a 1997 model TJ

therefore first thing is to retrieve any diagnostic codes. below is what I copied elsewhere

To get the codes from your TJ:

Turn the ignition key ON THREE TIMES in succession:
ON : OFF : ON : OFF : ON
(within FIVE seconds)
Count the number of times the check engine lamp on the dash flashes. The number of flashes represents the error code. There will be a short pause between the flashes representing the different digits of the code. Longer pauses separate individual trouble codes. Codes on 1999 and newer TJs will be displayed in the odometer.
Code 55 will be the last code to be displayed.

Note: This does not work on most '98 and '99 models due to changes in the OBD system during that year

for more details see here with what the code numbers represent http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f9/fa...r-codes-23788/

and I'm leaning towards a crank position sensor, but impossible to tell from here
