Default 3.6L Pentastar How many KM

Hi all.

I'm really hoping someone can shoot me in direction of a relevant thread, as keywords I'm using in search reveal nothing.

My partner is looking at buying a 2011 Grand cherokee loredo with the 3.6L V6, The question relating to this is. How many KM have people gotten out of the engine?

The vehicle in question she is looking at has 129,000km. Normally KM wouldn't concern me but just about everyone says the same thing about jeeps when I mention it. "they are s#!t"

I've read reviews on components and the like and I'm satisfied it will be a good purchase , just cant find anywhere saying how long the engine will last.

as Jeep owner I cop that a lot, but then one finds out it's from people who have never owned a Jeep in their lives let alone driven or worked on one

I know nothing about the 3.6 Pentestar as my Wrangler has the old AMC 4.0 straight six that has done over 200k without a hiccup

I also owned a Yota Landcruiser for 12 years previously and that had more things go bust on it at the same comparable mileage than my current 13 year old Jeep.
also bought brand new another Yota Landcruiser 70 series ute just over a year ago. great vehicle for carting stuff around and has that v8 grunt for cruising on the highway, but in the bush when I just have to cart myself, still prefer my little Jeep. most people just dont get it

There was a recall overseas for cylinder heads on early 3.6's apparently. Only 7500 units worldwide.

I would imagine yours is out of the danger zone. Sounds like an early life issue

I agree with Mace1. So far the only real issue with the 3.6 was the cylinder head on a few of the early ones. With a 129000 Kms on the clock any issues would have shown up by now.

I also totally agree with Bonza. My last Wrangler had 203000kms on it with no issues what so ever a part from changing out a rusted radiator.

My two Hiluxes (both SR5s) were the biggest pieces of shit I've ever owned. I only had one on them for 8 months before I traded it in just to get rid of it.

I'll never buy another Toyota again. Yet I tell people that and they don't believe me.

At the end of the day the 3.6 engine is so many cars these days, parts are so cheap. For the JK you can find replacement engines with only a few 1000's km on them for 2-5k... for a complete motor.... I sleep easy knowing I can find a replacement 3.6 if I ever need for cheap..

For the people who say jeep are shit.. If you are worried about what others think. You have bigger problems. Everyone has their 2 cents to speak about "Oh jeeps are shit" ask them why and they can never answer you.. My mates uncles brothers sister had one once and it always broke down.. Every car has problems. Atleast with the jeep community everyone is here to help you, log onto a FB page or a forum with a problem and most local jeepers will come help you fix the car if they are local. Often giving parts away to other owners just to get them back on the road..
