Default Leak around e Fuel Filter Housing

Had a stain on the driveway after it had been sitting for a week or so...had a look only under the car today....found the source of the leak...its in the Filter Housing area....bottom of Housing is wet and bracket/protector/structure at the front of the area is where it is dripping...only minute but its a leak...havent jacked it up and climbed under but, before I do....apart from loose/ill fitting filters and the drain plug (which is buggered/bastardised)....any other 'common' possible sources ????.....no start, stop or run issues are present so 'doesnt appear' to be loosing pressure...which is odd considering its a leak in a sealed system ???...my thoughts were...possible return line or the filters n drain plug....but...thats why Im asking....any input is valued particularly if its a 'common' issue and I can check that possible source first....THANK YOU

The filter heads cracking is a pretty common issue - definitely replace them and tick that off first. My next guess would be the housing itself, which I think I've seen a few times over the years.

If it was one of the lines, you'd know about it. When they said high pressure fuel pump, they weren't kidding.

Thanks...from what I saw...it doesnt look like its coming from the filters themselves as the 'droplet' I could see was coming from the front of that area...when I get a chance I'll jack it up and take a pic before cleaning it up and having a decent look...housing itself isnt out of the question....AGC may get some money back for all the free advice they have given over the past couple of years

I had a set of Wesfil fuel filters start leaking from the end cap O ring seals about 2 weeks after I fitted them. It turned out the plastic caps had a moulding defect where the O ring sat which eventually led to the O ring leaking. I contacted the supply company with pictures of the problem & they sent me a set of replacement filters.

Cheers

I think this set is Wesfil from memory ???....or Coopers ???....whichever the local auto store had in stock...not big on which brand I use...just change them every 10k max....THANKS....will buy a new set as a precaution in any case and have a close look at the o ring when I pull them out....

Im 'generally' cautious when tightening filters as its only a matter of gaining a seal with whatever 'rubber' is involved, not tightening it to gain a seal....but.....

I would start at the filters caps/O ring but first see if you can give the housing a scrub then when it dries off put a few chalk marks around in spots where it will show up if the leak is coming from above or just wicking from somewhere, remember diesel can run uphill.............

I have kept a couple of filter caps in my "Just in Case" box, you never know....

Second that, if you have to tighten any more than a nip up, something is not right
