Broke down yesterday about 2km from home on the Monash freeway. Engine light came on and lost power. Engine then stopped. Leaking a lot of diesel from where the fuel filter is. Hopefully it's just a hose popped off or a broken clip. Didn't want to get under car on the freeway so got a tow truck home. Haven't had a chance to investigate further.

Scanned for codes and got p0887 or maybe it was p0087. Either way it was low fuel pressure which isn't really surprising.

Had this on my 07 CRD last year, but without the engine light. Seems the fuel filter head unit has a fuel heater in it which is prone to having the thermostat fail, which then melts the plastic internals, then fuel leaks out past the heater electrical connector.

Bought a 2nd hand unit for a couple of hundred bucks, fitted that WITHOUT the electrical connector for the heater and runs fine.

Keep a close eye on how close your bonnet is to the body - I ended up going for the drake ones with the wire as I wasn't happy with how close it was (that and I rubbed some paint off lol)

Bonnet at back has fair clearance. Front edge is much closer. I'll see how it goes. Keeping the factory ones to put back on if I don't like these.

Yeah, was the front that scraped the paint on mine lol - you're aware now though, so long as you like!

Picked up new tyres yesterday. It's killing me that I can't fit them just yet due to too many bills this month. I wonder what would happen if I didn't pay the electricity?......
