Default XJ Paint, what is it?

What type of paint were used on XJ's are they 2K, acrylic or enamel.
Just wondering before I decide to repaint or not.

Yep, PPG was original equipment manufacturing, unfortunately that is why we se so many XJ's with the paint breaking down.
PPG is a bit like Coca Cola, sold on advertising. If they said we have some chemicals watered down with a huge dose of sugar i am sure they would not sell much but we drink it because "it adds life" etc. There are far better quality products available to us, we just gotta cut through the crap and find it!
IMHO you should have a look at a Quality European paint like Sikkens or Glasurit.bloody expensive but worth it.

Rodger that. Fairlane.
Sikkens in my opinion is one of the better ones.
Different paints come & go but a couple of the european ones are the ones panel shops seem to go back to.
Spend the money on a good paint.

i actually had no intentions of using ppg, iv'e heard some rough things about them previously. a freind of mine was actually a sales rep for them at one stage and he had a few sad storys. to be truthfull i'll be re-painting it black and i'll be using the gloss black paint you buy from super cheap, some may think "you are kidding" but i have painted 2 vehicles with the paint from SCA and they have come up super and looked quite good for a few years after.
