Default Diesel Gladiator

Are there any rumors a jeep bringing the diesel JT to Australia?

Is the 3.0L eco diesel even legal in Australia? I see the wrangler has a smaller Diesel engine.

i heard that that motor won't fit in a RHD Wrangler chassis. It hits on the steering column. That is why we had the 2.2, but it no longer met emissions

Yes, and unlikely to spend money on re-engineering for a small RHD market as diesels are being legislated out in many countries like parts of Europe and also Japan. I was reading the European benchmark will be a diesel fuel economy of 3.6L/100km. As beautiful as they are to us, I think a brick on wheels will struggle aerodynamically !

That is a bummer. As a US resident, I always hope Australia gets that same Jeep stuff we do. When that happens, it usually means some of the accessories that are common for Australia make there way to the US.

Specifically, I'm hoping one of the Aux Tank companies make an fuel tank for the diesel gladiator. I don't care if it is just a larger OEM tank, or an aux tank hugging the exhaust or spare tire replacement.

FCA won't commit to re-engineering the JT for RHD, plenty of speculation about it not fitting with RHD but as the stock petrol is a V6, I believe its more a dollar return on investment thing as in the USA it's around a $5k option.
So here in Oz $5kau would be on top of the current $85k asking price for a Rubicon (given all Oz TJ's are auto) not many would opt for diesel in my opinion.

Best we can hope for I think is a 4xe version of the JT with 280kw and 637-Nm, with a range of about 640km I would defiantly consider it.
Cost would be the biggest hurdle one would think.
