that's weird how do you warp brake drums? use it like a drift car and overheat them? can you get them machined or get some from the wreckers

Would I be correct in saying my drums are stuffed if I lay them flat on both sides (front and back) and you can rock them from side to side like a table with a short leg or similar? :/
axle housing can certainly be bent, mine was, but no bad vibes, however, I did have this once before

the only way to be sure is to measure axle tube to ground accurately on flat concrete, take readings from pumpkin to outer and check hub angle is 90*

cant recall a drum ever being as described, my brake man machined mine for $25 each, I think newbies are cheap like 60, so i would get them if i was you

just so you dont think its just you, swapped my rear ends, all goes well...except new rear end howls a fair bit, (worse than the other one) didnt hear that at all on the other vehicle!

I measured the wheel distance from centre of the wheel hub to the ground and it was the same on both sides, then I measured from the bottom of the shock mounts to the ground and was the same length......

Yeah will definitely get new drums. Want to check how much run out if any is on the axle flanges too. Will test this with the wheel and drum off the car and turn the car on. I wont touch the brakes either lol...

Ah man these bloody old cars. Can never get them right without massive dosh on them...

One thing I forgot to mention, which I have done a couple of times

set up a dial gauge to check run-out in in tyres, rims, drums, discs, axles etc

it doesnt take too much time, and proves out things very methodically.

I consider a dial gauge to be an essential tool, they are really cheap on ebay

(one of the axle tubes on my broken diff housing was actually moving in & out under road stress!)
