Default WK2: Chief Products // Build & Adventure

Late last month we purchased a 2015 5.7L Overland (Granite Crystal). We loved our 2012 5.7L Overland (Mineral Grey). It was fun to drive around town and surprisingly capable off-road. So when it was time to upgrade we decided to go with the exact same car only newer.

We've only got 350 kms on it, but I'm already enjoying the new 8 speed transmission, improved entertainment centre and digital instrument gauge cluster. We lost Sport mode on the Selec-Terrain system as well as a bit of storage space under the armrest and in the change holder, but those are minor gripes. All-in-all the 2015 feels great. Jeep's made a great product and we're excited to start adding a few toys.

So what's in store for the build? Well if you've been following the build of my 2012 5.7L Overland, (http://www.ausjeepoffroad.com/forum/...d.php?t=123892) you've got a great preview. I'll be doing many of the same things to the 2015.

Really looking forward to seeing this build-up mate. My wish list is much the same as you've outlined here—just a really functional and clean/stealth looking machine.

I can only assume this will also be the test machine for a pre-runner design?

Hey Chief,
I'm not sure if it's what you are looking for but you know you can engage sports by pulling the gear stick back when it's in drive?
Jason.

It will be interesting to see how the 33's go, i have 32's and while they dont rub most off the time the rear left will touch the body under full compression, only just but its worn through the liner.

Thanks Matt!

We finally got started on the build last week. I'll be posting some photos soon.

This will definitely be the test machine for the Pre-Runner. I'm excited to get the first prototype on the car so I can begin on-road and off-road testing!

Cheers,
Bill

Hey Jason,

Thanks for that. I found that after I made my post. Using the shifter on the 2015 puts the trans into sports mode, but on the 2012 I think it also lowered into Aero mode and tightened up the suspension. I think they replaced Sport mode with Snow mode for all the winter folks, which is probably nice to have if you live where there's snow.

I picked up a 2015 SRT at the beginning of the year, so now when I'm looking for 'Sport Mode' I jump into the SRT.

Cheers,
Bill

Indydof,

I had 32s on our 2012 WK2 and I found the same thing, slight rubbing on the rear inner wheel wells under full compression. It never wore through, but you could see the wear marks.

We bolted the 33s on this week and we used wheel spacers on the back to solve that issue. So far everything is looking good, but I haven't taken it off-road yet. I'll be posting more info and some photos soon on the whole process.

Cheers,
Bill
