I had 265/70/17's on +30 offset rims. The reason I went to 255's is they (265) made contacted with the rear quarter lip when the rear suspension compressed when traveling through dips in the road. Cut up the edge of the tyre, worse when towing.
That 5mm less (per side) makes all the difference, they no longer rub on full lock either.
I have never had BFG's before and so far I'm impressed.
Grip well on and off road and not to noisy. Handled the high country tracks like Billy Goats with complete confidence aired down to 22psi. They don't appear cut up at all, still look like new.
If you want to keep the tyres under the guards then they fit the bill.
