Default ARB 2'' lift

Ok so today i went in to ARB to get an idea on the lifts available and what i wanted more, i figured the 2'' lift is what i wanted but thought id inquire into the other options only to find out that anything more than a 2'' lift is illegal in NSW?!?! so the bloke behind the counter tells me.
He then went on to quote me $1950 for the installed lift...that correct? or a bit pricey???

i was quoted around $1400 in WA for the OME 2" lift fitted. if you have the tools and spare time, i'd go for doing it yourself and then getting a good wheel alignment
