Default Wg/wj 2.7 crd rear wheel bearing

So I need to do a rear wheel bearing on the wg And I found a set of timken set 10 in the workshop that were for a late tj wrangler... I looked online and some people say that the wheel bearings are the same from tj and xj up to jk including wg/wj. My question is has anyone used timken set 10 in a wg/wj rear wheel bearing??

So went down to a bearing joint today that is meant to be a timken bearing rep.... Long story short they told me that none of the bearings come in set numbers... And that set 31 means nothing. I listed off a few bearing numbers to him that I had looked up and nothing. Then got told that the bearings that they do list on there books for rear wheel bearings for the wg/wj were $230 a side and he didn't have the seals in stock and would need to be ordered in.... That's pretty much genuine part price if not more. I also don't think this is correct that 2 rear wheel bearings and seals cost $460. Is anyone in Melbourne and can tell me the bearing joint that they have used to get wheel bearings from ?

Cheers Tim

Far from correct, I bought wheel bearings 2-3 years ago and I think they were more like $35 a side. I'd have thought that Set 31 would be a Timken reference only, not a generic reference.

There is nothing special about the bearings as far as I'm concerned. I don't even think Jeep would charge that much, have you tried them for a price?

I'd buy from someone like RockAuto or Morris 4x4, will be here in less than a week.

I bought a set of rear wheel bearings off e-bay for my WG CRD, for $50.

That's what I was expecting Jason. I was thinking about $100ish for both sides. Yeah I'll hunt around tomorrow for some and try genuine for price.

If not I'll buy the set off eBay

I posted that I bought that Febest bearing set off ebay up above, then deleted it, not wanting to defend my purchase choice

I only use mine for fun, on weekends. Not many k's. So far so good.

If you can change them yourself easily, why not?
