Not really as it links to the OBDII port via bluetooth. It does use GPS for logging things like 1/4 mile times if you're into that sort of thing but apart from that I am not aware that it would need the SIM card. There is a free download version you can test out, the Bluetooth OBDII plug is around $13 from ebay from memory.

For sure. Its practically a race car now. Twin tip muffler and all.lol.

Have got free app. Plug doo daa is ordered. How much difference is there between free and $5 version?

To be honest I dont remember any more. I liked it so much I was happy to pay! Actually I think there might have been restrictions on some things you were able to monitor. I was havingnissues with excessively high fuel usaage and rough running and was able to see one side of the motor basically being flooded by the fuel trim and yet the O2 sensor was saying it was running so lean the catalytic converter was facing 'imminent failure' I think some b of tbe things I was trying to read and graph were locked out in tbe free version.

But using that tool I was able to assess that the O2 sensor was not sending correct signals and despite 3 no fault found trips already to the dealers I found the wiring to the sensor had been rubbed through on the firewall heatshield and was shorting to earth!

I believe dashcommand is the ios app - however I don't think it does the transmission temp.
