Was thinking I might try it Friday night if no one with a wired one can confirm where the wire needs to be soldered and fingers crossed

Hey boost - did you end up having a crack at this last night?

It's a pretty crappy day today, so I was thinking about having a fumble around to see if I could fix this.

Cheers,
Hanna

Ok, so I soldered a 12" wire to the data contact and I believe it is definately better. Before I had to stand right next to the car now the remote actually works from about 1m away. Even the second remote which didnt work at all before works so it definately makes a little difference.
Not as good as I'd hoped but still definately better.
I would still be interested to see one with a factory antenna to make sure its as good as it gets..

Thanks boost - sounds like it made some difference, which is great. However it seems that yours may have another issue as well.

Mine will generally work from 1-2m away, however sometimes it will work from 10m away, of course then at other times won't work at all!!

Thanks for posting your results, I'll let everone know how I go later on.

I did mine yesterday as well and it is definitely better.

I can get mine to operate at up to ~20m away now and ALWAYS works within 5 or so metres of the car!!

If I use Jippy's method of holding the remote to my head it will work from up to ~35-40m away. To put it in perspective, previously using this method range was about 15-20m.

Still not sure whether soldering this antenna to the "Data" terminal is the correct thing to do, but it definitely provides some benefit.

I would like to hear from someone with the later model module to confirm exactly where the wire connects. Bring it over to my place and I will pull it apart and put it back together (without damage of course) for you. It only took me 30-40min in total yesterday. There's a 6-pack in it for you!!
