Take out your front driveshaft and see if noise disappears, could also be a joint on the front shaft as they grind a bit once they've shit themselves

I hope not as I replaced whole front axle early in the year BUT with a 2nd hand one from Jeep Recyclers which have a 360 day warranty.

If you had a 99, or 00 with Teves calipers I’d say you’ve got warped disks from heat, but you have an 02 don’t you? You still may have warped disks but the chances are smaller. Do you get a pulsing through the brake pedal at the same frequency as it grabs?

I changed from Teves to Akebono at the same time as installing drilled and slotted rotors and they are noisy, I don’t mind though. It depends on the pads too, sintered or ceramic pads make more noise than organic pads.

Found that the transfer box was dryish, as couldn't touch any oil with little finger, so topped it up and dry grind and noise were gone. So it seems I'm up for a new seal as could see were oil had sprayed up onto bottom of floor.

Think I found what the noise was/is, after having lift done it started doing it again so back up on the hoist it went. Turns out the rear cv boot on the front driveshaft is stuffed, so getting a new one this PM.
The guys at Collie tyres and exhaust are squeezing me in even though they are busy as before Xmas.

Good outcome? So was the oil spray actually grease from the cv joint?
