They will be the same sub standard part mate, Jeep simply do not rectify design faults on existing vehicles. My WJ was the same, I had broken drivers seat base replaced several times under warranty.....with same shit design and same result for the life of the car. Same goes for the equally shit power steering pump hose leak.....utterly dickhead design with single use fittings and they persist with the same shit part to this day.....you have to go aftermarket for a simple and cheap fix. Same goes for the equally shit plastic cable anchors in every door that go brittle and stuff the power window motors....etc etc.

Otherwise same alternators from 2011 - 2017. I assume the T36 recall was only for the 160A alternators on the petrol V6.
There appears to have been a few failures of the diesel alternators lately 220A ??
The alternator is not very accessible to check the part number against. Does anyone have one removed and found a part number ??
All Australian GCs get the 220A that is fitted with the tow pack (Oz GCs get the tow pack by default), but the Petrol and Diesel use different models:

Diesel 4801835AC
Petrol 3.6 4801865AC

3) Related to this failure mode is that they are under engineered for the task they are being asked to do. :---- also a likely the problem here. It is also usually resolved by redesigning the alternator.

Are the replacements identical or are they improved? that is a question I would be asking FCA.
The cause of the failures is described as "diode thermal fatigue due to cyclical loads induced by the electro-hydraulic power steering (EHPS)". They are working on a redesigned alternator that can cope with the demands of the EHPS, likely the stock will go to US customers first and we will be waiting for a bit.

@Lewy2001

My 2012 petrol is a 220A alternator, and it states that on my build sheet. I do not have the Tow Pack. I also have the HD radiator. I would assume all Australian export received the 220A. i am also part of the T36 recall.

Second question, do the CRD have the same part number for the alternators?

All Oz delivered GCs get the tow group by default, it includes the 220AMP alternator, HD cooling and HD brakes and load leveling suspension on the non-QL models.

Alternator part numbers:
Diesel 4801835AC
Petrol 3.6 4801865AC

I believe that is incorrect. I definitely DO NOT have the Novimat rear shocks and I do not have QL. I have posted the sticker of my rear shocks and confirm their not load leveling.

Got my Jeep back today with the aftermarket alternator. They told me it came from CoolDrive, but I am waiting on a model number. I’ll see if I can work it out by having a look tonight.

It also appears to have fixed my intermittent starting problem which is good
