I agree, the cabin was well thought out. Also comfortable and pleasant to drive. The overriding "horrible" bit for me was about fuel consumption, and overall the GC feels a lot more 'solid'.

My '06 Territory was a great car, ZF 6speed, AWD and LPG injection. Bought it new and did 230000 km , 150000 of that with the 2.5 tonne van on the back. What it didn't like was hills and head/side winds with the van on the back; they really slowed it down. Averaged 23-24 l/100 with the van on the back on LPG.
The Jeep was a real revelation with its turbo torque, fantastic economy and upmarket interior.....but not in the same ballpark as the Territory with storage areas. With now nearly 3 tonne of van on the back, you hardly know it is there regardless of road/weather conditions. Love our Jeep!

"Wk2 GC petrol - city between 10-11 and on highway 9-10. It doesn’t like stop go in city driving"

same for me , 2011 V6 5 speed around 11+ around town and I've seen it as low as high 8,s on the open road especially if kept under 100 mph

but generally mid 9,s

people tend to bag out the 5 speed trans and yep its not perfect but if you want to get moving the V6 is happy to rev, and while it doesn't have the torque of the hemi or diesel in my view the handling and general dynamics / balance seems near perfect (all alloy motor and set back probably helps)

unless you need the grunt for towing the V6 seems the perfect balance,

well that's my thoughts, I'm sure others will disagree and i respect that

Have they improved the motor at all in the intervening years since I bought mine in 2014 I wonder

That's better than I get in the diesel.
