Bushings (reconditioning distributor)

Has anyone replaced the bush or bushes in their distributor?

Are they solid brass (like in the older engines)

Is it a roller bearing as in some European/later model distributors?

My distributor has done 300K and has developed a lot of endshaft play and apparently an ever worsening misfire issue, the FSM has a exploded view but the bushes are not indicated in the diagram.

I don’t know what mopar used but Bosch locally made distributers used oil-lite sintered brass bushings.
Maybe try a auto electrical shop they may have some new old stock bushes of various sizes to chose from.

The replacement arrived from Melbourne today so the old one will get some "bench time" soon, I will be most curious, found an interesting tutorial on a removal process over at the Vintage Plymouth Forums (brass spigot bearings).

Thanks for the input, I should also try my local Automotive Engineers.

A Mopar OEM spare cannot be a bad idea and have read that the build quality is better than the replacement units available.

Sagem was the oem supplier for distributors.
The Chinese ones are junk for the most part.
Keep an eye out for low kilometre originals.
I fitted a grease fitting to mine. Seems to work well.
