Default To buy a cheep Winch or not

Hi guys, i am just looking for some feedback on this winch i saw.

http://www.topbuy.com.au/tbcart/pc/1...etter8-6-2011#

I am interested in getting a winch sort of...
I have seen them work well, i have seen them fail too. I have seen them as an extra weight on the front. I am not keen on thne extra weight.
I know it is cheap but................ Give me your views Ppl!

looks like its almost 400 dollars over priced to me. doesnt seem cheap at all

to elaborate..

i dont think theres an issue with a cheap winch.. say from the US.. say super winch. for around the 600 bucks
or from AUS. say tigerz11. for 750-850..

but when they become that cheap, for an item that is pretty damn important. your just throwing away your cash for little benifit..

If you can try get a name with a rep. will always have the back up service etc..
even a second hand warn winch for 600-800 bucks is a good option..

Its your jeep, if you take the risk and buy it. maybe do a write up 6 months down the track and share ur experiences with it?

Good stuff guys!

What really is the difference in the winch? Parts, gears, motor, replacement parts?

Keep it comin.

we bought a cheap and nasty 12000 LBS winch 3 years ago to use on a boat, would have been happy if it lasted 12months! it's still on the boat over 3 years later, gets abused, it's hardly ever cleaned just the occasional spray with INOX and regularly changing of wire,
Yes there are lot of bad things with the cheap winch's but we can't fault it, paid for itself lots of times now.

I've got an Aldi winch that gets treated like crap and pulled well over its limit - and it still works fine years later.
