Steering damper length - stock

Hey all,

Just wondering if someone has or can provide the centered (neutral) length pin to pin of the jk steering damper?

Fitted the relocation bracket, but forgot to take note beforehand. Now pretty sure it is pulling to the left a bit. Good thing i flipped it though, as took a nice rock on the clamped end even high. Suspect it may have moved a bit.

Going to do an alignment, just wanted the info first.

Hey mate, unless chrysler have changed the dampener again it shouldn't be providing any sort of pressure into the steering which causes it to "pull" in a certain direction.

If it did have a positive charge and you flipped it a per the Poly relocation kit from DBOR it would push you to the right due to how it is mounted.

Why don't you take it off and measure the central position an whack it back on?

Yom, when installing it I had it completely removed, so the tie rod clamp is not in the same spot.

Will try that. Get the alignment sorted and see if it still pulls left.

I'm thinking, compress & measure. Extend and measure. Then split the difference for mounting.

Mine looks sort of curved? And the plastic shroud came off the end & just floats around...

The steering doesn't move quite as far as the available stroke of the dampener, so you're pretty safe to set it at half travel with the steering pointing straight ahead.

Watch the position of the tie rod clamp. Once you have the dampener centered you need to position it properly as rotated too far back may hit the diff at full lock Right and too far forward may put alot of stress the bushings and wear them out prematurely.

Yeah, was looking at that angle when i put it in place.
Bushings already looked shagged, but no movement, and the car has only done 13thou/18months!
