Talking battery's

I was thinking of running a duel battery set up in my xj
I no longer have a back seat and made up some new draws
for them to fit in but i am getting mixed advice on putting them
inside the cab is there any reason i cant? I do need to put them somewhere
and with the new addition to the engine (supercharger) no longer have room
in the engine bay

any help would be good!

I would only put a sealed gell cell type battery in the cab. I used to run a big optima behind the front seat in mine.

Doesn't have to be a gel type battery. Just has to be a fully sealed battery, such as a SLA like the fullriver AGM's. (And plenty of others.)
This is just so the gases vented during discharge and recharge aren't able to reach explosive levels in the cabin. Dsmit on the XJ forum has done some gas measurements using a normal wet cell battery and hasn't found anything frightening, but it isn't the "safest" set-up to use.
If you do a search in the XJ forum you'll see plenty on this topic. Also try the dual battery page on Gojeep's site. I used both and ended up with a fullriver 90Ah-DC AGM in the cabin, but I have a bit more fuse protection than most seem to have. (BIG cables are running through the panel work which can short out the battery in a smash. This = fire.)
I think optima's are waaaayyyyyyyyy too expensive for what you get, but then dsmit thinks I spent too much on my $250 AGM. Just choose your budget and what you really need out of the battery.

One of the reason i went for the gel cell type was if it ever got hit by anything in the back of the vehicle and cracked it wont leak. I didnt want to have to muck around trying to build a cover for it or use a battery box as it wouldnt have fit behind the seat then.

Im currently in this same process. i already have a battery, its not sealed but it has special wents which go through a tube to were ever you want. so i have it going to outside.. its a 550cca 105RA which should be enough for my fridge, sound system and other stuff.

Dont let people know as having a battery in the back of a car is NOT ALLOWED unless u get Cams to check it. just make sure its wel venteleated (if not sealed) and strapped down so it doesnt move! and keep quiet.
