Thats exactly the same line that came from another Jeep sales person that I chatted to today.

Prado starts at $46250 plus onroads, wouldn't the unlimited in any of its forms be considered a bit of a bargain if you compare it to this?

Just quietly I also think the rubicon is overpriced. I was shocked when people mentioned approx. 50K on road for the 2 door. Maybe it is partly perception following the previous model's pricing structure?

Comparing the unlimited to the prado sounds a bit risky to me, but since I have yet to have a good look at the unlimited I can't really comment. Lets just say the toyota has a pretty good history so far.

So I guess I'll be looking at the renegade too, unless someone scares me off with another onroad cost.

yeah, where's the HEMI? I looked under the bonnet, it sure has got space for it. There's no fan directly attached to the engine and there's almost 20cm space on the front of the engine.

Mr Extreme... I don't hate the Jk, I love it in fact. But honestly, they could do better with the plastics. I look at my ZJ's dash, it's plastic but it's padded and has a nice feel to it. The new Grand's plastic dash and doors? McDonald's give away toys have got better feel plastics.

Handbrakes, yeah i know they'll work everytime, but did they have to make the lever that big?

Metal grilles, in a head on, depending on how severe, might actually protect the radiator better. Have you seen how thin the grille is? I know it's cost cutting, manufacturers have got to do that to survive.

Adjustable rear seats? Our family use to have an 83 Tarago, all the seats reclined. Why can't manufacturers make suv's with reclining rear seats (new X5, ML, GL are all doing it now) It makes a huge difference. If you were in the rear seat with your partner, wouldn't you wish you had reclining seats?

I did check the sway bars and the diff lock switch (which didn't say front or rear), I'm assuming one click is rear, two clicks is front, three clicks off. The tyres, they look like 32's but is a metric size.

I'll post some pics soon.

There was also the Compass and the other small Jeep. I don't want to start talking about them, I know what their intentions are.

Cheers

RE:Enterior plastic is there to add value. Nothing more. Compare to your current Tj.
RE: Plastic grille. Plastic is more flexible and if you were in a head on the front bar and grille arent gonna do squat even if they were steel.
RE: Rear seats. How many rear seats do you know that are adjustable?
RE: Paint. All TJ's have notoriously thin paint. One cut and polish and your F*#ed. 3/4's of your paint job is gone.

I cant beleive you didnt check out the Stabilizer bar. Diff lock controls . Are the tyres 32's?

Sales guy i remember you said you were gonna be the first on this forum testdrive one. What happened M8. And a manual too.

Just deconstucting the critisism.

How on earth can a prado be compared to any jeep wrangler

they are just people movers - that can go off road and great for long range touring due to the size of the fuel tank - try and get a toyo with disconnects, lockers and softtop .... oh yes cannot get one

oh you can get one with lots of comfy things but not off road ready functions

the JK has no peer in the 4wd market under $60k - you can compare other 4wd's but thats where it stops

I'm sure the hemi, the rubi crd will be available in the future

Default I must be alone???

I was completely disappointed with my test drive today, granted itr was a unlimited sport not a rubicon but i like driving my tj better.

the accelerator felt to vertical and there was no initial response from the throttle.

the fit and finish was below par!! and those bumpers, ive said it before - what a F**K UP....

think ill be looking at a hilux???
