I would run a 305/70/17 which is approx 12.2 x 34.1 inches. On a two inch lift. Or a 285/70/17 (11.5 x 33) standard... thats what im thinking of doing afetr hours researching american forums..
After standing beside a nice Red 2 door Rubicon (holland park) on the weekend, and looking at the big black dougnuts on it I can't see needing different tyres from new, I'd drive those ones down first as they didn't look that bad to me and I recken they'd take you heaps of places and with the JK, would be more than capable. They were pretty "massive" looking for a standard tyre, not many 4bys of that size come out with 32's, so I don't see the need to rush out for 33's or 35's. I'd have fun enjoying the "NEWNESS" of the JK for a while, before modding it up.
...I'm keen on the JK Rubicon but as I had wanted the diesel..I'm restricted.. for now at least.. to the Sport.. which means 16" rims and 245/75's.. or about 30" rolling diameter. I think these are about 1/2" down on the old faithful 31 x 10.5 R 15's I fitted on my old TJ. The 32's on the Jeep Rubicons 17" rims looked like all I'm likely to need..but I'd like the option of going to 33's down the line. My question... firstly...are the 17" rims an option over here as they are in the U.S. ? They're about $AU400 with 255/75 R16 tyres...heavy duty suspension & gas shocks in the U.S. Could I safely fit full 32" tyres to the existing 16" rims..or better to go with the 17" option (if it's available)..as I'd like to stay with Jeep rims rather than go aftermarket. ?
my beef was the "if ya not going to buy it in the next 5 mins well im not going to bother etc" considering we bought 2 rubicons a few hours later at redcliffe then it would have been worth his time imho ?

id stick with the 16" rims and get a say 265/75/16" or 285/75/16" they should still be legal im in qld so rules suc big time lol as a mate in our club told me a 16" is far easyier to get hold of then a 17" out the back of beyond etc and on them with a bout 2" lift you can fit 35's under the jk's with no probs so i been told.
