You only need a copy of Windows 7 home premium + sp1 iso. Put in on either DVD or USB. Install it using your OEM key. When you activate your key, you will need to use activate my phone as it won't work via internet. Call Microsoft with the details you see on screen, then follow their instruction and you are done.
This is the proper way to handle OEM activation in case the OEM partner is "gone" already. Microsoft won't ask you what your computer / notebook is as long as you ask "yes" it is the same notebook with broken hard disk and install the thing.
If you need a copy of windows, pm me. I'm in eastern suburb in melbourne as well.

Have you checked to see if you still have a hidden recovery partition on the hard drive?
If so, you may be able to restore it to factory default without a disc.

Try this...
As soon as the computer starts to boot up, the ASUS logo appears, tap on the F9 key. (If F9 doesn't work, try F11).
This should go to the 'boot manager'.
Hit the Enter key to continue and follow the prompts for language and options.
The better option might be to select 'Recover Windows to the first partition only', which should replace your entire Windoze operating system without affecting any other partitions you might have created elsewhere on the HDD.

You'll most likely lose anything on the C:\ partition that you've installed, so make sure you back up all your emails and docs, pics, vid's etc and have the discs for any other software applications you might run, like office, graphics software, etc.

Nothing Asus or original left on the ssd. I didn't want to restore all the crappy factory bloatware. In hindsight it might have been easier but too late for that now.

I have a Iso. Tried to do it tomorrow night. I will report back. I haven't forgotten. It takes a while to install Windows and office and I have been needing my computer.

Installed windows last night. Everything worked ok.

Asus replied they don't supply the disc because it is bad for the environment. What a joke.
