Just because I am too lazy to do any research on this!
Went to the tip today to do the usual garden waste offload, and decided to go to the recycle centre to fill in 5 minutes. Ended up getting this:





What's that? You want more pics Carves! Ok



Measures 460 x 360. Not sure what it's off etc but it's brand new and cost $5.
Looks like some types of radiator or a/c.
Now to the big question - what's the difference between radiator, a/c and engine/transmission coolers?
are they built for a different pressure?
I was half thinking I could use this as an auto trans cooler, although it's a fair size.
Any thoughts anyone?

Regular little shutterbug aintcha XJKEE ....

Just the one piccy would have done for me .... I can see its bigger than your trailer by the first pic ....


Whats under the plastic caps ... push on hose fitting barbs ???

If so ... that would suggest it is an oil cooler but that tube dia. looks a bit small ???

All you can do is run some oil through it and see if you think the flow is fast enough to match the gearbox ...
....... and see if it leaks - got a air compressor you can wind the pressure down on ???

Next step would be to fit it on someone elses XJ and see if it works ...

Maybe a AJOR member auto shop trady can recognise it ???

Are you having one of those sleepless nights again Carves heheheh. Up so late?

Yeah, the tubes are smaller than the stock trans cooler.
Under the caps are threaded fittings, with some sort of concentrated green stuff in it, so not sure whether for a/c or radiator (small for a radiator). If there is no difference between how they are manufactured, then I guess I can check what size tubes some of the aftermarket trans coolers run. Lol, it was one of those impulse buys. Should have seens the moths come out to part with 5 bucks.
Guess I will have to do some research now after I get back from my next trip away (or you could do it for me Carves???????) hahahah just kidding.

BTW
The concentrated greenstuff does not smell like coolant. Even a bit oily. Some sort of preservative??? I know nothing at all about this sort of stuff.

Had 5 or maybe 10 minutes to think about this.
Larger tubes - more volume
Smaller tubes - More velocity
Any experts out there?
