They had the car replacing gears 1 & 2 synchro assemblies, then I had it for 3 or so days, and it wouldn't start when I went to leave my mates house.
The crank case position sensor melted and shorted out, so there was no power to ANYTHING. - no lights on dash.. - no clicking.. - Nothing.

Then they decided to replace the engine from a previous rebuild that was done @ 25,000km.
So they had the gearbox off twice, and didn't report the clutch/flywheel to be burnt out either times..

and then suddenly, after having it back for 10 minutes, bam, buggered clutch.

It's not under warranty, my options are, buy one from Germany, made by SACHS, which is what Chrysler OEM is.. Clutch kit $206 and Flywheel $1000 - I'd get the dealership to do the work, it they're OEM parts and dealership installed, then at least warranty is covered.

Currently waiting for a call from Jeep with that "special price" that the service manager was talking about.

As a clutch isn't a warrantable item, I'm not sure what I can do.

It wasn't happening before all of the work.

I'd be getting the clutch inspected by an independant mehanic or clutch specialist to see why it failed.

Yeah, that's the plan, does anybody know any decent mechanics/clutch specialists in WA?

Clutch most certainly is a warrantable item! It's not warranty if it has done reasonable km or it has been abused! If it fails and has not "worn" out then it it warrantable.
Under the circumstance of what km you have done and since the time your vehicle has been avaiable to you, there is no way I would be paying for a clutch!
Additionally from the brief desctiption it doesn't sound like it wore out but actually failed and hence warranty! They would have had the clutch on and off a few times with the engine rebuilds and sounds again like technician fault!
Get them to show and explain exactly HOW the clutch failed before paying anything!!!
Matt
