Default CRD had it over the pits the other day

Any body tell me why Jeep wood put a return deisel fuel cooler in fornt of the rear axle to get wiped off on the first tree trunk crossing

and and and I have an unprotected plastic sump on the auto trans

I guess GC limiteds were made for the city drivers

whats the suggestion for protection of these vulnerable parts?

Tricky

I've been a lot of places offroad now in the CRD - and just came back from the Victorian high country in it. I have come too close to knocking off the fuel cooler - a few times. I haven't managed to kill it yet though. I'm investigating moving it up into the rear well near the fuel tank - if the air flow is enough for it to do its job. Given that the darn thing is full of mud at the moment, I doubt that it is really critical. Maybe I'll leave it where it is a build a guard for it made from a couple of longitudinal rods front to back.

The sump is a doozy. So is the transfer case that hangs off the back of an incredibly expensive Mercedes gearbox...... I'll be taking it to a fabrication shop soon. I'm not going to go to a Jeep "specialist" as I fear that their charges are opportunistic.

Huh?

Not everyone is happy with a tent on wheels that doesn't have room to take what you need on a LONG TOURING trip

I'm going to pick up my machine this evening after being in for 3 days to fix a problem with Turbo when cold. They are principally Merc dealers so I will ask.

Tricky - what turbo problem? Did yours make a slight, short and muffled "scraping" sound on reasonably hard acceleration when cold.... like a short "pip"?

Mine does this too.... I put it down to the variable geometry vanes within the turbine area that might be sraping along their rotational path when cold because the body of the unit hasn't expanded to full-temperature size or something.....
