Default 2.7 CRD surge. Is there an actual fix?

So I've been looking at past threads on "hunting idle" and "surging".
There is a common theme of changing a million things with no fix. Generally sensors, fuel lines/orings and injectors.
But only for the problem to still appear after great expense.

So is there an actual fix or just swap away til you get sick of it? Mine starts and drives fine. But when it surges when cold or when the AC is on it can be quite dangerous when riding the brake into a tight space as when it surges it trys to run off on me. Embarrassing and annoying.

I really like this car but don't want to spend thousands for no reason replacing things with no result.

It shows no fault codes on the ELM.

Thanks

I don't have a fix, but I do have the problem. It sounds like mine is not a bad. Watching this thread for potential answers.

Seems a common problem. So one would think its a specific component.

For such an old vehicle to have no solution is hard for me to believe.

I strongly suspect that it's something to do with air getting in. One time I shut down as it surged and it was unusually hard to start. Next service I plan to change the valve on the filter and the rubber hoses.

I just done all fuel lines, filter and orings. No difference in surge.

In saying that I've never had starting issues.

JeanLuke, did you put new injectors in?Was this a problem before injectors were done, and was there any change in the surge? I have not had this problem on the jeep, but had a similar problem on 80 series toyota. On the 80 it was a problem in the injector pump.Yes it is a totally different set up,mechanical direct injection Vs CRD.Just wondering if the crank sensor on jeep could be suspect?Does it only occur when engine is cold,or when ac is on when hot?
