Default Engineering for lift

Hi all,
I had a 3" installed 4 months ago and while i like it a lot, I'm getting increasingly nervous about it not being legal and/or roadworthy.
I'm not worried about being pulled over by Mr Plod, but i am worried about insurance companies and the TAC.
If i happened to be involved in an accident and the vehicle is not legal both insurance companies and possibly the TAC are within their rights to wash their hands leaving me in the deep end of a Werribee pool....

Long story short, how much would it cost to have the mods (i sometimes run 33" as well) certified and can anyone suggest an engineer to do it in Vic?

Just to damp your enthusiasm..... a few friends have been told by their insurance companies that they wont cover more than the 25 / 50 lift even it it does have an engineers cert......

P.S. a 33 is legal as the largest tire factory fitted to a JK is a 32 on earlier Rubi's. 32+ 1 ( 25mm ) = 33".

Check your insurer isn't one first, but its a bummer when they did in the past and now pull the pin.

Before we recommend a engineer lets look into the costs. To do a lane change test to engineer your rig would cost $2000 plus the hire of a race track to do the test. I'm not sure the cost to hire Winton, sandown or Calder but I doubt it would be cheap, I'll send them a email and see what they come up with. As for a engineer these are listed on vic roads website.

It's something I would like to do too, maybe if there are a few of us we can share the costs.

Default Engineering for lift

Mighty Mouse yes it's 32 but its one inch of lift from tyre = 34" is the biggest. One inch increase in radius.

My insurance company is OK with any mods as long as the car remains legal...which currently is debatable

Ah... yes your right..... the Vic VSI 13.3.1 allows a total of 75mm lift without engineering, which can be achieved by up to 50mm suspension which leaves 25mm lift by tire which your rightly identify as moving to a 25mm radius taller tire ( 50mm diameter ).

A bit of an odd one but, by the 75mm rule it, would seem you can stick with stock ride height and go up 75mm on the tire radius ( 150mm on the diameter ) ...... hey I can run 38's legally

And stuffed up on the axle bit as well, damm...... as apparently its a move from the vehicles tire placard size That's apparently the reference the Police work to which sort of makes sense. If so later JK's of all stripe are then worse off than the earlier Rubi's that came with 32's.

And to top it all off there's the ESP issues........ VSI 13.7
