just re read all this and very interested in now doing this mod as when i climb steep hills and not being successful and hit the brakes they go rock solid allowing the vehicle to plumet down the hill until the brakes decide to allow me to use them bringing me to a halt.
This i find extremely frustrating so i would assume this mod will fix this problem first of all, is that correct?
Secondly i really do not want to lose the brake lock differential function with this mod activated as i find it extremely helpful. Can anyone confirm that BLD will not be disabled?

The Brake Lock Differential is the feature thats causing your pedal to be rock hard after giving up on a long slippery hill. This disable switch will disable all ESP functionality, including the BLD, so you are effectively back to normal open diffs.

The loss or brake has nothing to do with this mod. I have experienced what you are talking about numerous times in all makes of 4WD's. It is called "brake fade". Unfortunately my mod will not assist in this instance (not much will). If brake fade is not the issue, then it's the ABS trying to get traction. In this instance the ESP switch mod WILL help.

Seacomms is right on the money. Although it will not assist you in your brake fade issues which are experienced by many 4WD's, you will also lose the brake assist feature which basically helps you up a hill when the vehicle senses loss of traction. I only ever use my ESP mod on sand as that's when the vehicle suffers the most. All other times I leave the ESP turned on.

for an electrical dumbass, what gauge/rated wire extensions do i need? and are switches rated? if so, what rating do I need for that?

cheers
You only need a small wire as the voltages are below 5v. A simple amp remote switch wire will do. I think they are 18 awg or something along those lines.

Thanks mate. I plan to install a rocker switch with cover in the console.

Just for interest sake, here is the ESP status for each of the (factory) activation positions:
